How to Build the Perfect Cookie Box
Building your own cookie box sounds easy until you actually have to choose the cookies.
Chocolate? Caramel? Biscoff? Something fruity? Do you play it safe or choose something you’ve never tried before?
The good news is there really isn’t a wrong answer. But there are a few ways to build a box with enough variety that every cookie feels like a different experience.
At Big Boy Cookies, you can currently build boxes of 4, 6 or 10 cookies, so whether you’re ordering for yourself, sharing with somebody else or feeding a group, there’s room to mix things up. Big Boy Cookies
Start with your box size
The first decision is simply how many cookies you need.
A 4-cookie box is a great starting point if you want to try a handful of flavours without making too many decisions.
A 6-cookie box gives you more room to mix different styles and is a good middle ground for sharing.
A 10-cookie box is where things become considerably more irresponsible. It gives you enough space to choose favourites, experiment with different flavours and still double up on the ones you really want.
If you're buying for several people, the larger box also gives everyone a better chance of finding something they like.
Mix different flavour styles
One of the easiest mistakes is choosing six versions of essentially the same flavour.
There’s nothing wrong with loving chocolate, but a mixed box becomes more interesting when the cookies are genuinely different from each other.
Try combining rich chocolate flavours with caramel, biscuit-inspired cookies, nutty flavours and something lighter or fruitier.
The current Big Boy Cookies range includes very different options such as Nutella Bueno, Caramello Koala, Pistachio Creme, Strawberry Freddo, Red Velvet and Rocky Road, so you don't have to make every spot in the box taste the same. Big Boy Cookies
Include at least one familiar favourite
Experimenting is good. Building an entire box of flavours you've never tried can be brave.
A good approach is to include at least one flavour you already know you're likely to enjoy.
That might be a classic chocolate-chip style cookie, Biscoff, Nutella or another familiar combination.
Think of it as the reliable member of the box. If one of your more adventurous choices isn't for you, you've still got backup.
Then choose something you normally wouldn't
This is the fun part.
If you usually order chocolate-heavy cookies, choose something completely different for one position in the box.
That might mean a fruit-inspired flavour, pistachio, red velvet or whatever limited-edition flavour happens to be available when you order.
A Build Your Own box is one of the easiest ways to discover a new favourite without committing your entire order to it.
Think about who is eating the box
If the whole box is yours, congratulations. Your decision-making process just became much easier.
If you're sharing, it helps to consider what everyone else likes.
A mixed office, family or gift box will usually benefit from some recognisable flavours alongside one or two more unusual options.
And if allergies or dietary requirements are involved, always check the individual product information before ordering. Big Boy Cookies product pages list relevant allergen information, and the bakery handles products containing or potentially exposed to common allergens. Big Boy Cookies
Don't forget texture
Flavour isn't the only thing that makes cookies different.
Fillings, chocolate pieces, spreads, biscuit pieces and toppings all change how a cookie eats.
Choosing several cookies with different fillings and toppings gives the box more variety even when some of the flavours share similar ingredients.
That contrast is part of what makes opening a mixed box more interesting than ordering the same cookie ten times.
Although, if you already know exactly what you love, we're certainly not going to stop you.
What if I can't decide?
Start with the flavours you'd be disappointed to miss.
Put those in first.
Then use the remaining spaces for something different.
The advantage of a Build Your Own box is that it doesn't need to follow anybody else's rules. It can be balanced and carefully planned, or it can contain ten variations of chocolate-based poor decision-making.
Both approaches are valid.
